The Hidden Treasure

Sell All You Have

Matthew 13:44-46about 2 minutes to read aloud

Illustration for The Hidden Treasure

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field," Jesus said. "When a man found it, he covered it up again."

"He was full of joy. He went away and sold everything he had, and he bought that field. The treasure was his."

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls."

"When he found one pearl of great value, he went away, sold everything he owned, and came back to buy it. That one pearl was worth all the others put together."

The kingdom is worth everything. Nothing else comes close. Jesus Himself is the treasure hidden in the field, and the pearl of great price. Every other good thing is small beside Him.

To find Him is to find the one thing worth all things. No one who sells all for Him ever goes home sad.
