Moses & the Burning Bush
God Calls
Exodus 3about 2 minutes to read aloud

Moses had run away from Egypt long ago. Now he was eighty years old, a shepherd in the desert, tending his father-in-law's sheep. He thought his life would end there.
One day, on the slopes of Mount Horeb, Moses saw a bush on fire. The flames leapt, but the branches did not burn away. He turned aside to look.
A voice called from the bush. "Moses. Moses." He answered, "Here I am." The voice said, "Do not come closer. Take off your sandals, for the place where you stand is holy ground. I am the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob." Moses hid his face.
"I have seen the suffering of my people in Egypt," the Lord said. "I have heard their cry. I have come down to rescue them. And I am sending you to Pharaoh, to bring my people out."
Moses was afraid. "Who am I to go? What shall I tell them when they ask your name?" God answered, "I AM WHO I AM. Tell them I AM has sent you."
Moses still held back. So the Lord gave him signs, and He gave him his brother Aaron to speak alongside him. At last Moses went. The shepherd was going home to free a nation, because the Lord had heard.
