Elijah & the Ravens
God Provides
1 Kings 17about 2 minutes to read aloud

King Ahab and Queen Jezebel led Israel to worship Baal, a false god. The Lord sent Elijah the prophet to Ahab with a word. "As the Lord lives, there will be no rain for years, except at my word."
Then the Lord told Elijah, "Hide yourself by the brook Cherith. You will drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there."
Elijah did as he was told. Every morning and every evening, the ravens brought him bread and meat. He drank from the brook. The land grew dry, but the Lord kept His prophet.
After a while the brook dried up. The Lord said, "Go to Zarephath. I have commanded a widow there to feed you." Elijah rose and went.
At the town gate he met the widow gathering sticks. "Bring me a piece of bread," he said. She answered, "I have only a handful of flour and a little oil. I am going home to make a last meal for my son and myself, and then we will die."
Elijah said, "Do not be afraid. Make a little bread for me first, and then for yourself. The Lord says, The jar of flour will not run out, and the jug of oil will not fail, until rain returns." She did as he said. And day by day, the jar did not empty. The Lord was keeping them all.
