Illustration for Jesus Heals the Blind

As Jesus walked along, He saw a man who had been blind from birth. The man sat by the road and begged. He had never seen sunlight, or colors, or his mother's face.

The disciples asked, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" Jesus answered, "Neither. He was born blind so that the works of God might be shown in him. I am the light of the world."

Jesus spit on the ground and made a little mud. He put it on the man's eyes. "Go," He said. "Wash in the Pool of Siloam."

The man went, feeling his way. He knelt at the pool. He washed off the mud. He opened his eyes. And for the first time in his life, he saw.

He came back seeing. His neighbors did not know what to think. "Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?" Some said it was. Others said it only looked like him. He kept saying, "I am the man."

The religious leaders questioned him. He told them simply, "One thing I know. I was blind, and now I see." When Jesus found him again, He asked, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?" The man said, "Who is He, Lord, that I may believe?" Jesus said, "You have seen Him. He is the one speaking to you." The man said, "Lord, I believe." And he fell at Jesus's feet and worshiped.
