Good Friday

It Is Finished

Luke 23:32-46about 2 minutes to read aloud

Illustration for Good Friday

They led Jesus to a place called the Skull. They nailed Him to a cross. Two criminals were crucified with Him, one on His right and one on His left.

Jesus spoke. "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." One of the criminals said, "Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." Jesus answered, "Today you will be with Me in paradise."

From noon, darkness came over the land until three o'clock. The sun hid its face.

Jesus cried out, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" Then, after a time, He said, "I thirst."

And again, in a loud voice, "It is finished. Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit." He bowed His head. He gave up His spirit.

The curtain of the temple tore in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook. A soldier standing there said, "Truly this was the Son of God." Love had gone all the way down.
